Red Sox Were Closer To Acquiring All-Star Than Expected
The Boston Red Sox are all set at first base right now after landing Nathaniel Lowe, but it sounds like there was another guy who thought he could be coming to town. Now, we are about a month removed from the July 31st Major League Baseball trade deadline. Over the last few weeks, nuggets of information from around the trade deadline has started to come out. For example, The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal shared on Monday that the Red Sox were one of the four teams that former Baltimore Orioles All-Star Ryan O'Hearn thought he was going to be traded to.
Amid a Tough Season for the Giants, Pitcher Logan Webb has been Rock Solid
While the San Francisco Giants have had several bumps in the road in 2025, they've also seen some young players begin to step up, some notable individual performances, and a few veterans who continue to chug along. Case in point: Veteran starter Logan Webb has quietly been one of MLB's most consistent pitchers for several years now. Webb (now 12-9 on the season) pitched six strong innings in a 7-1 victory against the Brew Crew on August 23, ending a four-game losing streak for San Francisco. Webb currently leads the National League in innings pitched and is on pace for his first 200-inning, 200-strikeout season.
Brewers' Pat Murphy Makes Blunt Admission After Rough Giants Series
The Milwaukee Brewers still have baseball's best record, but this weekend was a bit of a rough patch. After taking game one of their series with the San Francisco Giants, the Brewers let their foot off the gas a bit. San Francisco got an easy win on Saturday, then came back in dramatic fashion on Sunday with a two-run single to take the lead in the top of the ninth inning when they were down to their last strike. On a day when the Brewers were honoring the late, great Bob Uecker for his six decades of loyalty to the franchise, the last-minute loss was a bit of a buzzkill.
How Matt Gage's winding journeyman career through minors, Mexico led him back to SF Giants
Matt Gage wondered if he just wasn't good enough. It was the spring of 2019, and Gage had just finished his second start with Mexico City's Diablos Rojos of the Mexican League. In his first start — Opening Day in the newly built Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú — he gave up five runs and recorded four outs. Gage knew if he didn't perform there, he may have nowhere else to go.

Brewers drop series finale to SF Giants
(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers dropped a second straight home series when San Francisco scored two runs in the ninth Sunday at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The 4-3 defeat gave Milwaukee five losses in its last eight games and melted its Central Division lead over the Cubs to five. Brewers manager Pat Murphy said the team is not trending in the right direction. https://media-cdn.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/2499/files/2025/08/082525mil1.mp3 He also talked about losing the series to the Giants. https://media-cdn.socastsrm.com/wordpress/wp-content/blogs.dir/2499/files/2025/08/082525mil2.mp3 Caleb Durbin's home run had put the home team on top in the fifth. Brewers pay tribute to longtime broadcaster Bob Uecker in star-studded pregame ceremony
Bob Uecker's Hall of Fame broadcasting career began only after the Milwaukee Brewers initially hired him as a scout. Former Brewers owner and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig said it didn't take long to realize Uecker might be better suited for a different role. “The first scouting report Bob sent back here had mashed potatoes and gravy all over it,” Selig recalled Sunday during a pregame ceremony honoring the man who broadcast Brewers games for 54 seasons, became a national celebrity for his trademark sense of humor and died Jan. 16 at the age of 90.
