Giants' Matt Chapman Among Third Basemen Carlos Correa is Learning from
There was a world in which Carlos Correa and Matt Chapman could have been San Francisco Giants teammates. Correa has been doing much more watching lately. At the trade deadline, the Minnesota Twins dealt Correa back to the Houston Astros and he agreed to make the transition to third base in the wake of an injury to Isaac Paredes.

SP McCutchens
In early 2018, Andrew McCutchen was traded along with some cash to the San Francisco Giants. Reynolds has probably been disappointing on the whole. In 2023, McCutchen returned to the team after a very brief foray with the NY Yankess later in 2018, a three year stint with the Phillies, and another year with thew Brewers. Back when there were two trade deadlines, McCutchen was sent on 31 August 2018 after 130 games, again with cash, for something or other in return.
Giants Rookie Outfielder looks to rebound from early struggles
Last Friday, outfielder Drew Gilbert got the call of a lifetime. It was the San Francisco Giants, and they were informing him that he was going to be added to the MLB roster. Following an injury to Jerar Encarnacion, who will be out 4-6 weeks, the 24-year-old would be making his first appearance in The Show. In his debut, he was the starting rightfielder, going 0-for-4 in his team's 5-0 victory over the Washington Nationals.
Giants Recently Released Outfielder Is Claimed off Waivers by Orioles
The San Francisco Giants designated outfielder Daniel Johnson for assignment last week when they needed to make room on their roster for outfielder Drew Gilbert. Acquired from the New York Mets as part of the return package for Tyler Rogers ahead of the MLB trade deadline along with right-handed pitchers Blade Tidwell and Jose Butto, Gilbert reported to Triple-A Sacramento at first.
Justin Verlander joins elite strikeout club: Will he return in 2026?
Justin Verlander is MLB's active strikeout king, but he doesn't plan to hang up his cleats just yet. The 3-time Cy Young winner is now 41 years old, but he recently told reporters he plans pitch in 2026 in what would be his 21st MLB season. Verlander is in his first season with the San Franciso Giants, and while his 1-9 record and 4.53 ERA in 99 1/3 innings is far from “Must See JV,” he did record his 3,500th strikeout on Sunday, becoming just the 10th pitcher in MLB history to do so.
Nationals' Rebuild Appears To Be Starting Over After Years of Struggles
The Washington Nationals were able to win their most recent series against the San Francisco Giants, but this is a team that has a lot of issues. As expected at the trade deadline, the Nationals were one of the top sellers, moving most of their veterans on expiring deals. Since 2019, Washington has been one of the worst teams in baseball, and despite a couple of attempts to burst out of their rebuild, it hasn't happened. Despite James Wood emerging as a true young star, there isn't much else to be optimistic about.
Giants Top Prospect Bryce Eldridge Dominating in August, Could Soon Reach MLB
The San Francisco Giants do not exactly have a top tier farm system when compared to some of their rivals across baseball. Considered by most to be one of the bottom groups of prospects in the National League and MLB as a whole, the depth is simply not there from top to bottom of the top-30. The one saving grace of this farm system though just so happens to be one of baseball's best prospects and future star sluggers in power hitting first baseman Bryce Eldridge. A 2023 first round pick, Eldridge climbed to Triple-A Sacramento this season at just 20 years old to become the youngest player in the Pacific League.
