Giants Rewarded for Long-Term Investment in Cy Young Contender Robbie Ray
The San Francisco Giants made a gamble on Robbie Ray two offseason ago and it has clearly paid off. After he had Tommy John surgery in 2023, the Giants traded for him, knowing that he wouldn't be ready to start the 2024 season. San Francisco sent the Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger, pitcher Anthony DeSclafani and cash.
Should A's Target San Francisco Giants Former First Rounder?
The Athletics pitching staff hasn't been great for about the past month, holding an ERA right around seven, and they began the month of June by giving up eight runs to the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The bullpen has certainly been struggling, but with so few options to choose from on the 40-man roster, the A's may have to think outside of the box a little bit to right the ship. The Minnesota Twins released former San Francisco Giants first-round pick Tyler Beede on Sunday after the 32-year-old held an ERA of 8.00 through seven appearances that spanned nine innings.
Padres visit the Giants to open 4-game series

San Francisco is 33-26 overall and 17-9 at home. The Giants have an 18-2 record in games when they scored at least five runs. San Diego has a 33-24 record overall and a 13-14 record in road games. The Padres have hit 53 total home runs
Houston Astros look vulnerable in the AL West. Is anyone ready to dethrone them?
Slowly but surely, the stars of Houston's 2017 World Series-winning team have scattered about in the years since. George Springer is in Toronto now, Alex Bregman in Boston and Carlos Correa in Minnesota. Jose Altuve and Lance McCullers Jr. are still with the Astros, but it feels like it's only a matter of time before Houston's dominance of the AL West comes to an end.
Giants Beat Against Marlins Despite Awful Outing from Struggling Reliever
The San Francisco Giants extended their streak of not scoring more than four runs in a game to 14 against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Reliever Jordan Hicks, who hadn't pitched since Monday, came in and was wild and erratic in his shortest outing of the season and nearly allowed the Marlins to creep back into the contest. It was clear Hicks' confidence has grown so low that Melvin may need to make a harsher call than pulling his struggling arm like he did Sunday. During his brief stint as a starting pitcher this season, Hicks struggled mightily and ultimately found himself demoted to the bullpen due to his performance becoming a liability.
Giants Legend Gives His Blunt Assessment of First Base Production
The San Francisco Giants' struggles at the plate have been well documented over the first two months of the 2025 season, as the team has dealt with a serious lack of production at key spots in the lineup. One spot in particular has been a bigger sore spot than others has been first base, where veteran slugger LaMonte Wade Jr. has been the starter over the last three seasons. After two solid years at the plate in 2023 and 2024, Wade has seen his numbers plummet in 2025. According to NBC Sports Bay Area's Nick Avila, Posey recently went on a local sports radio talk show on KNBR 680 AM and was asked about Wade's lackluster numbers at the dish, a question of which Posey had a very blunt response.
Matos' 3-run homer powers Giants to 4-2 win over Marlins
Luis Matos hit a three-run home run and the San Francisco Giants beat the Miami Marlins 4-2 on Sunday. After Wilmer Flores knocked in a run with a groundout in the second inning, Matos connected on a 2-0 changeup from Ryan Weathers (1-1) in the third that traveled 390 feet to left-center and gave the Giants a 4-0 lead. San Francisco did not score after that, marking the 14th straight games the Giants have failed to score more than four runs. Hayden Birdsong (3-1) struck out five and allowed five hits and one run in his second start in San Francisco's rotation.
Giants Slugger Tearing Up Minor Leagues During Injury Rehab Assignment
The San Francisco Giants were off to an extremely promising start to their 2025 campaign through April and early May. While they have started to plateau a bit recently, accruing a 32-26 record, they still have plenty of moves left to be made, including receiving multiple of their players back from injury. One of the more notable players who could be set to return soon is outfielder and first baseman Jerar Encarnacion, who went on the injured list ahead of the season, but has been on a rehab assignment in recent weeks. Having him back in the lineup would be beneficial in multiple ways, but primarily because he would be able to fill the team's gap at first base. While he has not exactly proven himself as an offensive powerhouse in either of his two MLB stints as of yet, he has shown productivity at the plate in other ways, including driving in runs and scoring some himself as well.

Giants Rising Slugger Falls Short in Updated Top Prospect Rankings
One of the tallest task that Buster Posey was going to have to figure out when he took over as president of baseball operations for the San Francisco Giants was their organizational depth. The team was lacking much high-impact potential in the minor leagues, with first baseman Bryce Eldridge being the only player who seemingly possessed the chance to develop into a star in the Major Leagues. The previous regime swung and missed with too many first round picks, leaving the Giants without much impact talent to work with. Another pitcher, Carson Whisenhunt, is knocking on the door of a promotion as well.
Giants' bats silent again in shutout loss to Miami
Edward Cabrera pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, Javier Sanoja had an RBI single, and the Miami Marlins beat the San Francisco Giants 1-0 on Saturday. Giants starter Robbie Ray retired the last 15 batters he faced in seven innings. Ray (7-1), trying to become the first eight-game winner this season, scattered two hits, walked three and struck out nine. Cabrera (2-1) gave up six hits, walked three and struck out six as the Marlins were limited to three hits by Giants pitchers for the second straight game.
SF Giants' Posey preaching patience with Adames, but what does recent history say?
Willy Adames has yet to live up to the billing of the franchise-record seven-year, $182 million contract he signed with the Giants this offseason. President of baseball operations Buster Posey had a simple, two-word message for fans when he went on KNBR's “Murph and Markus” this past Thursday. “Be patient,” Posey said. Prior to signing with San Francisco, Adames had a career .766 OPS and averaged about 26 home runs and 83 RBIs in full seasons.
SF Giants' top prospect Eldridge enjoying his time in native Virginia, but he knows California is calling
Bryce Eldridge doesn't know how he got so lucky. The Flying Squirrels pack The Diamond, their 9,560-seat ballpark, nearly every night, and some percentage of that crowd can be attributed to the native Virginian's presence. Yes, the Giants' top prospect loves playing close to home. California, soon, will be calling — Sacramento, then San Francisco.
