Mon, 2025-05-26 11:56

Tigers center fielder Javy Baez was ejected from Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants for arguing a called third strike. Baez was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning by home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi in the game at Comerica Park.

Giants Receive Awful Re-Grade for Signing Star Slugger This Past Offseason

Mon, 2025-05-26 11:00

The San Francisco Giants continue to play extremely well this season, but shockingly, their new additions haven't contributed much so far. With a record well over .500 and right in the mix in the National League West, the Giants have been a pleasant surprise this year. Buster Posey went with much of the same with just a couple of notable additions, but players who were either hurt or underperformed in 2024 have been much better. Hopefully, some of these struggling sluggers get it going soon, and if that happens, San Francisco might be able to get even better.

Giants predicted to acquire $13 million Orioles hurler in surprise trade

Mon, 2025-05-26 10:54

The San Francisco Giants are hanging in tough, but this won't be an easy playoff race by any means. After a 19-10 start, the Giants have been a .500 team in May. At 31-22, they're one game up on the St. Louis Cardinals for the third Wild Card spot, if you believe those things matter yet at this time of year. Whether it's more pitching or a new first baseman, the Giants could certainly use reinforcements at the trade deadline to keep pace in the playoff race.

Mon, 2025-05-26 08:00

Recently the San Francisco Giants had three selections as a publication tried to pitch the best players of the last 25 years. The Athletic's Jayson Stark (subscription required) selected his MLB all-quarter century team and the Giants were prominent on the team. One was left fielder Barry Bonds, which makes plenty of sense.

Hayden Birdsong looks to lock in permanent spot in Giants' rotation

Sun, 2025-05-25 23:20

Hayden Birdsong began the season as a long reliever. The San Francisco Giants right-hander was so effective in that role, he earned an opportunity to join the starting rotation. Birdsong will make his second start of the season in the opener of a three-game series at Detroit on Monday afternoon. In his first start, Birdsong limited Kansas City to one unearned run in five innings on Tuesday.

Longtime Scout Believes Giants Have the Next Barry Bonds in Their Pipeline

Sun, 2025-05-25 19:00

The San Francisco Giants don't have a strong farm system. Ranked 24th by Baseball America and 28th by MLB Pipeline, they have been impacted by graduating a few of their young players. Bryce Eldridge is the headliner, and while he is projected to become a superstar slugger at some point in his career, the rest of the top 10 are largely in the lower levels of the farm.

Giants Slugger Set To Rejoin Team After Long Road Trip With Return Date Nearing

Sun, 2025-05-25 16:00

The San Francisco Giants have been in search of power throughout their lineup for a while. Since they play in one of the most pitcher-friendly parks in Major League Baseball, it's hard for their own players to put balls over the fence at a consistent rate. Because of that, San Francisco took a flyer on slugger Jerar Encarnacion last year. In the midst of the 2024 season, the Giants signed him away from the Guerreros de Oaxaca of the Mexican League on May 16 by locking him into a minor league deal.

Giants Have One of Baseball's Best Outfields When at Full Strength

Sun, 2025-05-25 14:00

The San Francisco Giants have done everything quietly this season in terms of the amount of national attention they garner. Quietly, they have kept pace in the gauntlet that is the National League West. In left field, Heliot Ramos has established himself as one of the most feared power hitters in the National League and is only getting better right now. Slashing .286/.350/.480 with nine home runs and 26 RBI in his first 52 games of the season, Ramos is back to his All-Star quality form from the first half of last season and only seems to be getting better.

SF Giants take series in D.C. as Ray continues excellent stretch

For Ray, this is his sixth consecutive outing of at least six innings, the third time he's done so in his career. During this stretch, Ray has allowed seven earned runs over 39 innings (1.62 ERA) with 44 strikeouts to four walks.
