Braves riding tandem backstops, bid to deal Giants seventh straight loss
The decision to start two catchers helped ignite the Atlanta offense. The Braves, who host the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday in the second game of a three-game set, have primarily used catchers Sean Murphy and Drake Baldwin in the starting lineup since the All-Star break with one behind the plate and the other at designated hitter. Over those four games, the duo is 11-for-26 (.423) with four doubles, five walks and one hit by pitch. Baldwin was the DH on Monday and went 3-for-5 with a career-high six RBIs -- one shy of the franchise rookie record of seven set by Wes Helms in 2001 -- in Atlanta's 9-5 victory.

SF Giants' losing streak hits six games as Birdsong fails to record an out
Thanks in part to the All-Star break, Hayden Birdsong went roughly two weeks in between starts. Instead, Birdsong hit his nadir Monday. Birdsong's imperfect outing set the stage for the Giants' 9-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Monday night at Truist Park, extending the team's season-high losing streak to six games.

Beloved ballpark therapy bunny, Alex The Great, has died after complications from cancer
A beloved therapy bunny named Alex The Great, who provided snuggles and comfort from ballparks to NBA arenas, airports, farmers markets and even Easter egg hunts and NASCAR races, has died. A floppy-eared Flemish giant who was larger than life in both size and spirit, Alex suffered complications from cancer treatment and died early Monday, his owners said. Alex appeared June 4 sporting his signature cap for Padres-Giants at Oracle Park. At 4 months old, he attended his first Giants game in April 2021 — believed to be the first bunny in the stands at the waterfront ballpark.
Giants Shockingly Named Good Fit for Diamondbacks All-Star Slugger
Despite a great start to the season, the San Francisco Giants are heading in the wrong direction of late. Coming out of the All-Star break, the Giants ran into the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays and were swept. San Francisco made the significant move to acquire Rafael Devers about a month ago from the Boston Red Sox, but the star slugger has struggled with some nagging injuries.
Blockbuster Red Sox Trade Looks Like Latest Whiff For Giants Front Office
Buster Posey has taken some big swings since becoming the San Francisco Giants' president of baseball operations last fall. Last winter, Posey added Willy Adames and Justin Verlander in free agency, giving Adames the largest contract in Giants history at seven years and $182 million. The star shortstop has struggled in his first season with San Francisco, batting .222/.306/.386 (99 OPS+) with 14 home runs, 50 RBI and 1.0 WAR in 99 games. Meanwhile, Verlander's been one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year, going 0-8 with a 4.99 ERA, a 1.51 WHIP and -0.7 WAR in 16 starts.
Giants Star Relief Pitcher Tyler Rogers Has One of Most Valuable Offerings in MLB
Every year there are players who are snubbed from being named as a participant in the MLB All-Star Game, but there may not have been a more deserving player who didn't get invited than San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Tyler Rogers. All three of those players were deserving of the honor, but Rogers had a strong case to be there with them.
