Tue, 2025-05-20 11:00

The San Francisco Giants have had a great start to the year in the Majors, but will need that success to spread throughout their farm system if they want to keep their championship window open. A handful of minor leaguers and prospects have started to look like future stars. Here is the best performer at each level so far. Right now, it seems more like a when than an if regarding Whisenhunt getting called up to the Majors in 2025.

San Francisco Giants Conspicuously Left Off Deadline Buyers/Sellers Prediction List

Tue, 2025-05-20 08:00

Past the quarter point of the 2025 MLB regular season, it seems clear that the San Francisco Giants are here to stay. Willy Adames has been performing better at the plate in May, hopefully providing the team with some impact power as they hoped when they signed him to a franchise record seven-year, $182 million contract. Matt Chapman is getting on base but has yet to find his power stroke either. Carrying the offense to this point has been center fielder Jung Hoo Lee, left fielder Heliot Ramos, right fielder Mike Yastrzemski and designated hitter Wilmer Flores, who leads the MLB with 42 RBI after a historic performance recently.

San Francisco Giants Begin by Welcoming A's Fans, Only to Troll Them

Tue, 2025-05-20 06:00

Over the weekend, the San Francisco Giants swept the [insert name] Athletics, blowing them out in Friday's game thanks to a career night from Wilmer Flores, then on a tough walk-off walk in extra innings of a scoreless game on Saturday. WIth the A's out of town (thanks in some part to the Giants pushing them), there are theoretically more people that already enjoy baseball that no longer have a team to root for. The Giants will never be that, so it's tough to see may conversions happening in the near future. There is also another group that is Oakland or bust for the Athletics, and they're definitely not switching allegiances.

Highly Viewed Giants Prospect Wins Prestigious Award for His Performance in Triple-A

Mon, 2025-05-19 19:00

The San Francisco Giants have pretty much everything going right for them at the moment, with a 28-19 record, they are right on the brink of taking the division lead, only one game away. The National League West is competitive, but that just shows how truly impressive they have been to remain competitive among the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. The team could still use some improvements, notably starting pitching depth, but they have enough talent to suffice at the moment, with Logan Webb tearing things up and some solid showings from Robbie Ray as well. One of the best prospects on the team is pitcher Carson Whisenhunt, who has been absolutely outstanding after being drafted in the second round of the 2022 MLB draft.

David Villar's time with SF Giants likely nearing an end after second DFA

Mon, 2025-05-19 18:02

Once heralded as the Giants' third baseman of the future, David Villar's time with the organization is likely coming to an end. Villar, 28, was designated for assignment Monday for the second time this season so that Casey Schmitt could be activated from the injured list. If he is not traded, Villar will have the opportunity to elect free agency rather than an assignment to Triple-A Sacramento. Manager Bob Melvin said it was “hard” to deliver the news, but move didn't come as a surprise to Villar, who was still at his locker when the home clubhouse opened to reporters before the Giants began a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals.
