SF Giants' frustrations extend beyond loss to Marlins after three batters plunked

Thu, 2025-06-26 08:33

SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants' frustrations on Wednesday night were twofold. There was, of course, the 8-5 loss. They pushed the game to extras with two runs in the bottom of the ninth only for the Miami Marlins to counter with four runs in the 10th inning against closer Camilo Doval. They're now facing the possibility of being swept at home by one of baseball's worst teams. Losses happen. But the Giants are also displeased with the bevy of beanballs they've absorbed in recent days. With Casey Schmitt, Jung Hoo Lee and Dominic Smith getting plunked tonight, the Giants have been hit nine times in their last nine games. Schmitt, who's already filling in for an injured Matt Chapman , had to undergo

The Padres were in on Rafael Devers before he was traded in division to the San Francisco Giants.

For many San Francisco Giants fans, there has been something missing at Oracle Park. Giants CEO Larry Baer appeared on 95.7 FM The Game earlier this week and was asked about a statue for franchise legend Barry Bonds, who leads Major League Baseball in all-time home runs. It sounded like Baer has been asked the question a lot.

How Has Giants' Rafael Devers Performed Since Shocking Red Sox Departure?

Thu, 2025-06-26 07:00

It still feels strange to look at the Boston Red Sox's lineup every day and not see Rafael Devers' name in the two-hole. Devers has now played eight games with the San Francisco Giants after the most controversial trade of the season. If Red Sox fans haven't followed the Giants outside of the two teams' emotionally-charged matchup last weekend, they probably only remember Devers' home run against Brayan Bello to lead the Giants to a win on Saturday.

Giants Veteran Starter Blames Himself for Not Putting Team in a 'Good Position'

Wed, 2025-06-25 19:00

The San Francisco Giants have had an outstanding first few months of their 2025 season, looking like one of the most competitive versions the team has seen in quite some time. With a 44-35 record, the team is on a good pace for the postseason, and while their recent sets of series have not been exceptional, they are maintaining second place in the National League West. The difficult part has been some of their offseason acquisitions not quite living up to expectations yet, one of which being Justin Verlander, who, through his first 12 starts with the team, has an 0-5 record tied to his name. There have only been four seasons in Verlander's career where he has gone under .500 as a starter; those are 2005 (his rookie season, only two starts), 2008, 2015, and 2024.
