Devers' defensive growing pains on display SF Giants drop series to Mets
There were always going to be growing pains for Rafael Devers at first base. Devers committed an error along with several miscues in his third career game at first base as the Giants lost 2-1 to the New York Mets, one of which set the stage for New York's Mark Vientos to hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the sixth. Robbie Ray took the loss as he allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings with three walks to three strikeouts. The Mets loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fourth, doing so with the help of Devers' first miscue at first base.
Insider Says Giants Are Looking To Add at Two Key Positions
The San Francisco Giants appear to be buyers, but after acquiring Rafael Devers earlier in the season, it's hard to predict exactly how aggressive they are going to be. Buster Posey has been pretty open about what they are eyeing before the deadline, even going so far to say they are monitoring everything when it comes to the starting pitching market. "The Giants, however, plan to buy, seeking a second baseman and starting pitcher," the insider reported.
SF Giants reflect on Ichiro's career ahead of Hall of Fame induction

The Mariners' front office told Melvin that Suzuki, who was hovering around 160 pounds, needed off days.
Giants, Reds' matching trade deadline plans revealed
The NL Wild Card race is open. The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal grouped the pair of National League contenders together in his latest breakdown of the trade deadline. "One rival executive proclaimed the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants should be aggressive buyers," Rosenthal wrote, "saying it's 'open season' on the third NL wild card because of the San Diego Padres' uncertain hold on the position."

After recent long hitting slump, Mets star Francisco Lindor hopes to build off strides with swing
Francisco Lindor ran around the bases at Oracle Park with his right arm raised high after a third-inning home run. During his recent hitting slump, Lindor leaned on everyone around him. “I got rhythm and I feel good,” Lindor said afterward. It hasn't been one single voice providing Lindor with advice during the struggles of late.
