SF Giants' cold offense prolongs Verlander's longest winless streak
The record is sounding broken. Justin Verlander, once again, put himself in position to earn his first win as a Giant. As baseball's oldest player, he's now recorded four quality starts in his last five outings. Manager Bob Melvin's new lineup couldn't figure out Merrill Kelly, who outdueled the future Hall of Famer by allowing one run over seven innings.
Carrolls Homers and Gurriel's Catch Make Merrill Kelly's Gem Stand Up
Heliot Ramos and Jalen Beeks engaged in an epic confrontation in the bottom of the eighth inning that culminated in a screaming line drive to left field over the head of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Somehow the lanky outfielder managed to leap high in the air to make a game saving catch. Fellow outfielder Corbin Carroll spoke to Todd Walsh of Dbacks.TV after the came about the catch.

This Giants Slugger Is Chasing Something Not Accomplished in Three Decades
The San Francisco Giants have received some remarkable contributions from players in their lineup which has helped the team get off to an incredibly strong start. One of the players who has stood out thus far is designated hitter Wilmer Flores. The Giants are certainly happy he stayed, more closely replicating the performance from his breakout 2023 season than what he did last year. In 71 games and 242 plate appearances in 2024, Flores had a .206/.277/.318 slash line with an OPS+ of 72.
Melvin shakes up SF Giants' lineup following cold road trip
SAN FRANCISCO — Bob Melvin has seldom changed the foundation of his starting lineup this season. On Monday, he shook things up. Ahead of the Giants' homestand-opening game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the manager rolled out his most unique lineup of the season: Mike Yastrzemski (RF)Matt Chapman (3B)Heliot Ramos (LF)Jung Hoo Lee (RF)Wilmer Flores (1B)Willy Adames (SS)Patrick Bailey (C)Luis Matos (DH)Christian Koss (2B) “Sometimes, when you're a little stagnant, you change things up,” Melvin said. Giants' Mike Yastrzemski Turns Heads With On-Field Change
The San Francisco Giants (24-17) are currently off to their finest start since 2021, which was also the most recent campaign wherein this franchise won the National League West. One can point to many aspects, but part of San Francisco's recent resurgence can be attributed to dynamic play from right fielder Mike Yastrzemski. Yastrzemski — who is MLB Hall-of-Famer Carl Yastrzemski's grandson — is enjoying a nice season both at the plate and in the field.
San Francisco Giants Should Make Change at Closer Sooner Rather Than Later
The San Francisco Giants are off to a pretty good start this season. The Giants were was able to beat the Chicago Cubs to begin the week, which is a very good series win. The team was swept over the weekend by the Minnesota Twins, but all the games were close and there shouldn't be any panic over it. San Francisco has been using Ryan Walker as their closer all year.
Former Giants Slugger Evan Longoria Set to Retire Next Month
Former San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria will retire from baseball next month — but will re-sign with the Tampa Bay Rays first. The 39-year-old, who started his career with the Rays, will sign a one-day contract with Tampa Bay on June 7, per the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin. The one-day contract gives him a chance to retire as a Ray and to take part in a pre-game ceremony celebrating his retirement, much like the one Giants great Brandon Crawford had earlier this year. Tampa Bay traded Longoria to San Francisco in late 2017 for four players.
Giants Face Massive Divisional Series Test This Week Coming Off Brutal Sweep
The San Francisco Giants have sputtered a bit over the last couple of weeks, winning just five of their last 12 tilts with three of those five victories coming against the historically awful Colorado Rockies. Headed into the week coming off the roughest series yet, the Giants will try to bounce back from a sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Twins in the first of a nine-game homestand. Coming to the San Francisco to face the Giants starting on Monday night is a divisional opponent who has been playing some average baseball, but still presents a unique challenge in the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks have not won or lost more than two in a row in weeks and have alternated wins and losses in each of the last eight, entering the series one game above .500.
Twins Win 8th Straight, Beating Giants on Keirsey's RBI Single in 10th
