SF Giants continue rolling by blasting Rockies, move back to .500
The Giants playoff hopes appeared dead in the water after they dropped three of four to the Padres in San Diego. The odds are still not in their favor, especially with Landen Roupp and Randy Rodríguez both out for the season. The Giants began a six-game road trip with an 8-2 Labor Day victory over the Colorado Rockies. The New York Mets, owners of the final NL wild card spot, won a whirlwind game against the Detroit Tigers.

SF Giants add Brubaker, McCray as September rosters expand to 28
The Giants announced on Monday morning that they have selected right-hander JT Brubaker and recalled outfielder Grant McCray from Triple-A Sacramento as rosters expand from 26 to 28. All-Star reliever Randy Rodríguez, who elected to undergo Tommy John surgery this weekend, was placed on the 60-day injured list. The Giants are still alive in the playoff hunt — five games out of a wild-card spot after winning seven of their last eight games — and Brubaker and McCray were likely the best choices to help San Francisco win now. Brubaker could be used as either a multi-inning reliever or starter and McCray can be deployed as a pinch runner or defensive replacement.

Giants' Bob Melvin reveals why he let Justin Verlander throw 121 pitches
The San Francisco Giants beat the Baltimore Orioles 13-2 on Sunday to secure a series win in The Bay. Justin Verlander twirled five shutout innings in the game, striking out ten batters on 121 pitches. Manager Bob Melvin spoke with Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle about why he left Verlander out there. “In a day you feel like you're penalizing someone if they throw 100 pitches, to throw 120 in five innings, he didn't want to hear anything about coming out of the game,” Melvin said, per Rubin.

Tony Mansolino's fearless take on what's ahead for Orioles
The final month of the 2025 regular season is going to be nothing more than preparation for the upcoming season for the Baltimore Orioles. Their playoff hopes have long been dashed, and losses like the 3-1 defeat they suffered on Sunday to the San Francisco Giants aren't going to help matters whatsoever. Nothing is going to come easy for the Orioles, however, as they enter this preparation phase. In fact, they will be facing the New York Yankees seven times, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Diego Padres three times each.
